MMA Goes Hollywood

In April 2009, an American cargo ship was attacked by Somali pirates and the ship's captain, Richard Phillips, a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, was taken captive.  After a five day standoff, Navy SEALs rescued the captain.  As it turns out, Phillips dramatic story will be produced as feature film with Tom Hanks assuming the lead role.

In addition, the Discovery Channel also announced MMA would have a leading role in the upcoming documentary about the ill-fated Costa Concordia cruise liner, which ran aground off the coast of Italy on Jan. 13.  This weekend, a film crew from London traveled to the Buzzards Bay campus to film scenes for the one-hour television special.
