A year ago the Addition to the Student Union at Fort Lewis College opened its doors for the first time to the student body returning from Summer break.  It was very well received, but there was still much work to be done to solidify this project as the new heart of the campus.  A year later the renovation of the existing building is complete and the students have once again returned to a dramatically different built environment, now joined by a landscape in full bloom.  There is no more exciting experience for an architect then to see a design fully occupied for the first time; and our visit to Durango last week did not disappoint.  Fort Lewis College is truly a special place; hopefully this building reflects its uniqueness and serves the student body for many years to come.
