Recently Daemen College (Amherst, NY) held a LEED Dedication and Plaque Unveiling ceremony for the Research & Information Commons building (known affectionately on campus as “The RIC”), which had received a LEED Gold rating. The ceremony also marked the completion of the College’s 2010 Environmental Summit.
“The Research & Information Commons is the single most important construction project in Daemen’s history and we are extremely proud that it has received a Gold LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council,” said Daemen President Dr. Martin J. Anisman. “Our hope is that the Research & Information Commons will inspire others to create buildings and neighborhoods that are even more efficient, environmentally friendly, and instructive than Daemen’s – buildings that will help redefine the relationship between each of us and the environment. This is a building of which our community can be proud.”
Tracie Hall, Executive Director of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Upstate New York Chapter, was on campus to present the plaque to the College.
